Getting Ready

Packing to go on a long weekend to camp is a bigger job than I thought...

I felt like we were packed to stay for the summer but it turned out both Samuel and Katrina ran out of clothes (well, not actually ran out but you know what I mean!).

Day 1

We went to Camp Forest Springs for Memorial Weekend. If you have never been there, you are TOTALLY missing out. I started going to camp when I was 9 or 10 and went many years as a youth camper. Then I began volunteering there during the summer when I was 15 and did that several summers. I went back in college to counsel and loved every bit of my experience there. I was thrilled that God provided for us to be able to go as a family and I was able to chalk another experience up to an above par rating.

Here are some highlights from each day...

Paddle boating at the waterfront.

Swinging at the park.

Hay ride (we frequented this hay wagon EVERY night!).

Day 2

On Saturday morning after the session we headed to the mini-farm so Katrina could see the animals. She became a quick friend with the mini-farmer, Miss Elaine, and we spent quite a bit of time at the mini-farm this weekend.

After the mini-farm we went to handcrafts, my old stomping grounds. I spent most of the weekend with Samuel in the baby bjorn (thank you, Jenny!) and Panchito had Katrina on his shoulders. Can you believe we forgot the stroller? I brought EVERYTHING else under our roof and forgot one of the most important items. Oh well!

Back to the park.

Another paddle boat ride.

Games and ice cream at Main Street Cafe.

Another trip to the mini-farm, this time to hold the bunnies.

S'mores Katrina style: not roasted and withOUT the graham crackers and chocolate.

I roasted a few marshmallows for Panchito.

* Samuel was NOT in the carrier at the bonfire. Our dear friends, Steve and Linda, kept him back at Main Street so we could walk to Pine Point and enjoy our time without worrying about Samuel getting too chilly.

Day 3

By Sunday Katrina was beat. She fell asleep at lunch!

Another trip to the park. This time, Panchito convinced her to do the climbing wall.

Guess where we are headed?

Did you guess the mini-farm? Both kids enjoyed a burro ride.

Our time at CFS was incredible. We made so many fun family memories and we hope to make it a yearly tradition.

4 months and what I am doing

I am 4 months now and I am better than ever...

I weigh 15 pounds 5 ounces. My sister didn't weigh that much until she was 7 months!

I am 25 1/4 inches long.

I am wearing 3/6 month stuff and some 6 month stuff and even some 9 and 6/12 month stuff. I basically fit into everything except the small stuff!

I have not been sleeping through the night for a while now again and Mama thinks it is because I am growing! The doctor said that I am going through a MAJOR growth spurt. I am growing in weight, length and head circumference

That is about it. I am loved more than ever.

Oh, and I moved into a real crib and Katrina and I are sharing a bedroom now! I love my new bed with my "T is for TRAIN" bedding.

17 weeks

Fashion 101

 Katrina: "These hurt."

Me: "Take them off."

Katrina: "No. They look nice and I am a princess."

It is amazing that Katrina has already learned "no pain, no gain" when it comes to fashion!

We got a dog...

This is the only kind of dog we will be getting for a while...

My grandma made me this dog when I was a little girl. It is actually Annie's, from the movie Annie, dog, Sandy. Our dog Sandy chewed off one of his eyes, hence the one-eyed dog. I will get another eye for it soon.

We retrieved the dog from my parents house last week and Katrina (and Samuel!) has been playing Clifford and all sorts of fun pretend play with this dog.

Grandma Gehring, you are a genius to be able to make something like this and now a second generation is enjoying it. Thank you so much!

16 weeks

Samuel was born 16 weeks ago yesterday. He is getting chunky! Katrina did not weigh what he weighs now until she was 5 1/2 months! He will be 4 months next Tuesday. Pancho says he is not "chunky." He is "tough."

Save Big Money at Menards

You know you live in a city without a lot to do when...

Today a good friend and I took the kids to play at...

Wait for it... You are going to love this...

MENARDS!

The Menards in Wausau has a great play area. We have played there several times when we are there shopping as a family and today after lunch out at the newly opened Qdoba in town we headed over to Menards to play. The girls had a great time and so did the moms and baby brothers (who hung out in the respective strollers).

We did make two separate trips to the bathroom while there and then a stop at the patio furniture section where Katrina and Taylor walked around, perusing the goods, saying, "How beautiful." It was quite comical!

I felt a bit awkward not buying anything but we have shopped there several times and not played so I think we deserve a few play times without the need to shop, right?

15 weeks

Samuel is 15 weeks tomorrow. He is changing everyday. We are more in love with him each day as well.

To celebrate 15 weeks he moved into size 2 diapers!
