Do you hear what I hear? Do you see what I see?

Potty training for Katrina has been a tough ordeal... Because of all of her bowel obstruction issues we have had to be very careful about "forcing" her or even strongly encouraging her to use the potty. She was even afraid to "go potty on the potty" (vs. poops) and we attributed that to the time we had to give her a couple of milk and molasses enemas and then hold her on the potty seat in order for her to expel that which obstructed her bowels.

So, we have bought all the pretty unders and tried incentives and anything and everything we could think of and finally we just decided that it would have to be her and her timing. Since we have been home from the hospital with Samuel she has been more interested (go figure, when I don't have much time to dedicate to it!) in trying to go and we find her in unders quite frequently trying to go potty on the potty.

Well, today she wanted to give it another try and Samuel was down for a nap so I decided to take her downstairs with unders on and let her watch some TV. I gave her a cup of iced tea (her favorite drink) and kept asking her if she had to go...

Do you see what I see?

A tinge of yellow in the potty! Yeah! It is actually better to use this potty because you know FOR SURE that she has gone because you can see the potty. In the big one it is hard to tell since they go so little and the potty water does not turn that yellow.

Needless to say, Katrina is SUPER proud of herself, as she should be! We are SUPER proud of her too. She was sitting watching "Super Readers" and said, "I hear it coming!" She jumped up and pulled down her unders and then we heard it tinkle into the potty. She got up and looked and was amazed. She has gone again since.

I am by no means saying she is potty trained, but she is on her way and we are so pleased!
