It is amazing what a little change of scenery can accomplish.
Evidence Number 1:
This week I let the kids eat lunch for the first time in front of the TV.
(This is more for me than you: Don't freak out! It is not something that will become a habit and we were all watching Sesame Street together!)
I have said before that our kids are picky eaters.
It is shocking really because as infant-eaters they both ate everything.
Yet, as they have aged their palates have become quite selective.
So, I have learned (God has had to beat this one into my head) to go more with the flow.
Anyway, back to eating in front of the TV...
They both ate bread, grapes and strawberries and (drum roll, please): lunch meat.
I was very pleasantly surprised.
Evidence Number 2:
Samuel sleeps wonderfully in his bed at night, all night.
He doesn't cry when we put him to bed at night.
He lays right down with his chupis (nuks) and goes right to sleep.
However, during the day...
Very. Different. Story.
Granted, we have not had good consistent nap times at home for about 2 months but still, if he goes down so easily at night,
why, oh why is it so hard during the day?
Even when he is exhausted?
He screams and screams and sweats and screams and screams.
I have waited it out for 30 minutes, which is long for me!
Then, when I go in to see what is the issue, and I pick him up,
he falls right to sleep.
Then when I try to lay him back down in his crib (which is SUPER low and I have a SUPER hard time laying him in there asleep)
he wakes right up.
So, as any desperate mother would do, I have looked for other sleeping arrangements.
I found that if I lay him on our bed he stays asleep.
So, yesterday it was time for his nap and I thought,
"You know, I might just try to lay him in our bed, awake, and see what happens."
What do you know?
He went
right. to. sleep.
This mama is no dummy...
Today:
He was tired rather early today but I thought I would try out my new theory.
Yup.
I laid him down in our bed with his chupis (yes, he likes to have one in his mouth and one in each hand!) and he went
right. to. sleep.
AGAIN!
It is amazing what a little change of scenery can accomplish.
